    I have been a loyal AMICA customer for auto and home insurance for over 20 years, and never had any issues with them until this year.

    I have lived in the same home for 15+ years, with the same phone number and address. Earlier this year, I received a notice that my auto insurance lapsed. After calling them, their customer service person stated they tried to contact me several times via mail and phone. Funny, I didn’t receive anything in the mail or calls…

    Anyhow, after spending way too much time with the AMICA customer service rep trying to figure out why this happened, and being less than impressed with the, well its not our fault, its yours response I was getting I figured I would check out my options. Long story short, I ended up switching my auto insurance for 3 cars and a motorcycle.

    I was surprised with the lack of care they seemed to have for someone that had been a loyal customer of theirs for a long, long time. Finally, just last month I received a letter from AMICA stating that the policy on my home was going to lapse… WHAT?!?!?!

    So, to keep this story short, I contacted AMICA and they said they tried to contact my mortgage company 3 times and never received a response. I contacted my mortgage company and they said they contacted AMICA 3 times and never received proof of insurance. So, I called AMICA back, and told them they need to send proof of insurance to my mortgage company and I provided them with a fax number and address. The AMICA rep assured me they would take care of it all…

    17 days later, my mortgage company contacted me to tell me that they were going to place insurance on my company because I didn’t have any… UGH, I call AMICA again, and they tell me that my policy had lapsed and that I needed to get a new policy. I explained the whole story about the previous call to them, but they didn’t seem to care…

    Terrible customer service, I haven’t had any problems with them until recently, but they have really gone down hill in the last year or two.

    Avoid AMICA like the plague, unless you enjoy being treated poorly.
